Enron's Lay to Keep Mum in Hill Appearance

Former Enron Chairman Ken Lay, the man at the helm when the energy giant sank, won't be saying much today when he appears before the Senate Commerce Committee under subpoena. But the longtime pal of President George W. Bush is expected to get an earful from lawmakers who seem to be competing with each other to pillory the once-mighty corporation that left many of its employees in financial ruin.

Though Lay had been saying he was anxious to tell his version of the largest corporate bankruptcy in US history, he will heed his lawyers' advice to invoke his Fifth Amendment right to refuse to answer questions during his appearances.
