Bingaman Sees Energy Bill Getting Senate Nod

As the US Senate prepares to debate the more controversial points of a comprehensive energy bill, Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D- N.M.), chairman of the Energy Committee and the legislation's chief architect, said Monday that he was "reasonably optimistic" that it would win the chamber's approval, despite the thorny issues of opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to gas and oil drilling and increasing the fuel economy of cars and light trucks.
