Unlucky Enron Shareholders Will Not Benefit From Asset Sale

If Enron sells all the assets it put on the block this week, what will be left?

Not much, and probably not enough to constitute a going concern. In normal circumstances, the process would be called a liquidation.

Up for sale are partial interests or full ownership in Portland General, an electric utility in Oregon; Sithe cogeneration plant in New York; a small exploration and production company; and three natural gas pipelines, Transwestern Pipeline, Citrus/Florida Gas Transmission, and Northern Border.

Others out for bid include an electric utility and related assets in Brazil; a gas pipeline and other facilities in Bolivia and Brazil; and a liquefied natural gas import complex...
