Shell Prepares to Start Nigeria's EA Field, Advances With Push to Curb Gas Flaring

Royal/Dutch Shell confirmed Wednesday that production is due to start by the end of this year at its 60,000 barrel per day EA offshore development in Nigeria.

The shallow-water field -- which is tied to a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel named Sea Eagle - - is expected to reach peak production of around 140,000 b/d byby 2004. Shell operates the field. Other stakeholders include state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corp., France's Total Fina Elf, and Italy's ENI.
