California Regulators Say No to Texas Product Pipeline.

WASHINGTON -- Notwithstanding periodic supply shortfalls that send prices soaring, the California Energy Commission (CEC) on Wednesday rejected any move to build a pipeline for gasoline and other petroleum products from the Gulf Coast to the state and instead called for the expeditious completion and expansion of the ongoing Longhorn pipeline project.

At a business meeting, the CEC adopted a report that said the Gulf Coast area would not have enough of the ultra clean burning gasoline that California uses to merit building of the pipeline. The CEC took up the feasibility study on the direction of the California legislature that has been anxious to keep gasoline prices down.

While California's demand for gasoline is expected to grow at an annual rate of 1.3%...
