The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) looks ready to give ConocoPhillips the green light to develop five satellite oil reservoirs near the US-based major's Alpine field on Alaska's North Slope.
The BLM plans to release details of the just-completed environmental impact statement in Friday's issue of the Federal Register. The agency said Conoco's development plan represents an important expansion of the 429 million barrel Alpine field.
Alpine came onstream in late 2000. Current production from the field, which is the westernmost producing field on the North Slope, is about 100,000 barrels per day.
