PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT STRESSES NEED TO REVITALIZE BIMP-EAGA.

MANILA, Jan 7 Asia Pulse - President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today stressed the need to revitalize the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines--East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) to enable Mindanao to benefit from the trade and commerce of the sub-region.
In her radio-TV program "May Gloria Ang Bukas Mo," the President said that Senior Adviser for Mindanao Paul Dominguez has been seeking to get the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as an adviser for the BIMP-EAGA.
The President explained that during the Asian financial crisis in 1997, BIMP-EAGA was shelved because nations were concerned with their individual economies.
