LUCENT IN TALKS TO SELL MOBILE NETWORK OF FAILED AUSTRALIAN TELCO.

SYDNEY, Jan 21 Asia Pulse - US-based telco Lucent Technologies Ltd is in talks with a string of local and international players interested in buying the mobile phone network of collapsed telco One.Tel.

Hutchison Telecommunications (ASX:HTA) confirmed it was in talks to buy some of One.Tel's base stations, while Telstra and Optus were also believed to be having discussions with Lucent.

However, other international players were understood to also be interested in buying parts of the One.Tel network, with details of a possible sale expected to be announced within the next two weeks.

A spokeswoman for Lucent declined to comment on speculation that the interested buyers were working out how best to break up the One.Tel network, once worth more than $1...
