AUSTRALIA'S VIRGIN BLUE COULD PULL AHEAD OF QANTAS: CEO.

BRISBANE, Feb 25 Asia Pulse - Budget carrier Virgin Blue could still overtake Qantas (ASX:QAN) in the next three to five years despite the failure of talks to broker a deal with Ansett Mark II, Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey said here.
The cut price airline said on Friday that the it would remain independent and there would be no alliance with the Lindsay Fox and Solomon Lew consortium Tesna.
Mr Godfrey told reporters in Brisbane Sunday that he remained confident Virgin Blue would become Australia's biggest carrier as Ansett's legal team prepared lease transferrals and documents vital to the airline's sale, due before the Federal Court today.
