YAHOO JAPAN TO CHARGE EXTRA FEES FOR AUCTIONEERS.

TOKYO, March 4 Asia Pulse - Yahoo Japan Corp. (TSE:4689), a major Internet search engine operator, will start charging fees to members of its online auction service, in addition to a monthly basic membership fee of 280 yen (US$2.10), with the aim of reinforcing earnings, the company said Friday.
Under the new billing system, the company will begin from April 15 to charge 10 yen for all members offering items for sale on its Web site. It will also collect 3 per cent of the highest bid price from auctioneers when they strike a deal with a bidder, beginning May 15.
The auction service has 1.58 million members, the largest online auction service membership in Japan, with at least 4.04 million products on display on the site at all times.
