OECD LIKELY TO PUT KOREA'S EXPECTED GROWTH RATE AT 6 PCT FOR 2002.

SEOUL, April 25 Asia Pulse - The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is expected to raise the official forecast for Korea's economic growth rate to about 6 per cent from its previous estimation of 3.2 per cent, an official of the Ministry of Finance and Economy said Thursday.

"A six per cent growth rate was presented for South Korea at a meeting of the OECD Economic Policy Committee last week," the official said.

"It is highly likely that the figure will be announced as the official figure as was shown in previous cases, but the OECD may slightly lower the figure in the official announcement to be made late Thursday as we've said that the six per cent rate is a little high," he said.
