SHARES IN AUSTRALIA'S AQUARIUS JUMP ON RIO TINTO INTEREST RUMOUR.

PERTH, April 15 Asia Pulse - Shares in Aquarius Platinum Ltd (ASX:AQP) surged to a 16 month high today on rumours that multinational mining giant Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX:RIO) may be interested in the group.
At 1233 AEDT, Aquarius had soared 45 cents to $A10.10 ($US5.37) on volume of 104,072.
Rio executives last week said the company was interested in expanding into platinum group metals, according to a report in the Australian Financial Review today.
These comments, as well as an increase in the platinum price following a labour strike at Anglo American Platinum Corp's South African refinery, underpinned a 44 cent surge Aquarius' shares on Friday.
The stock closed at $9.65.
