NEW ALTERNATIVES EMERGE ON FAILURE OF HYNIX-MICRON SALES TALKS.

SEOUL, May 3 Asia Pulse - Political and business circles are engaged in heated debates over the fate of the ailing chipmaker as Hynix Semiconductor Inc.'s protracted sales talks with Micron Technology Inc. ended Thursday with the US chipmaker's withdrawal from negotiations.

Hynix had been in talks with its US rival to sell off assets and plants since November but failed to clinch a final deal after its directors rejected an initial memorandum of understanding on the deal Tuesday.

Still favouring the sale of the debt-ridden chipmaker, the government and creditors are now trying to find a third buyer, but this appears difficult.
