PHILIPPINES AG SEC. CONTINUES TO LOBBY FOR EXTENSION OF ACEF.

MANILA, May 17 Asia Pulse - Agriculture Secretary Leonardo Q. Montemayor continues to strongly lobby for the extension of the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) program until 2008.
The ACEF created by Republic Act No. 8178 of 1996 and was given a life of nine years ending in 2004.
Montemayor informed the Philippine Maize Federation Inc. (PMFI), which held its first national corn congress in Bukidnon last month that he has been asking for an extension in the life of ACEF "which was implemented five years after the law was passed to compensate for lost time."
