NEW SOUTH WALES GOVT TO ANNOUNCE MORE DROUGHT ASSISTANCE.

SYDNEY, Sept 10 Asia Pulse - The state government of New South Wales is expected to announce further drought assistance measures for farmers today.

Premier Bob Carr is due to announce the new measures as he opens the NSW Farmers Association's Farmers Towards 2020 Forum in Sydney, dedicated to encouraging and supporting young farmers.

The announcements will affect farmers in the areas of the state worst hit by the drought, and will include an initiative to keep farm workers on during the big dry.

Mr Carr is also expected to outline an exceptional circumstances assistance application for the Bourke and Brewarrina Rural Lands Protection Boards, which will be lodged by New South Wales Agriculture with the federal government this morning.
