IIJ AMERICA LAUNCHES A NEW SECURITY MONITORING SERVICE.

Internet Initiative Japan Inc. ("IIJ", Nasdaq: IIJI) today announced that its 90.3 per cent owned subsidiary IIJ America Inc. has launched a new security monitoring service for companies in the U.S. effective from October 21, 2002. The new service, "Security CheckUp", scans for security holes in customers' servers and enterprise networks. Security CheckUp helps network administrators to assess and fortify network security against, illicit access and attacks from external networks.
