AUSTRALIAN WATCHDOG STILL CONCERNED OVER FOXTEL DEAL: PAPER.

SYDNEY, Oct 22 Asia Pulse - The consumer watchdog is reportedly still concerned with key parts of the proposed Foxtel-Optus pay TV alliance, with speculation the deal could collapse.

The Australian Financial Review (AFR) said the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is unhappy with the structure of Foxtel's proposal to offer programming to third parties.

It also had reservations about a separate plan by Foxtel's major shareholder Telstra Corp Ltd (ASX:TLS) to bundle pay TV with telephone and internet services, the newspaper said.

Quoting unnamed sources, the AFR said the ACCC was now unlikely to make a decision on both deals before mid-November.
