CHEVRONTEXACO SET TO DEVELOP GORGON GAS FIELD, WEST AUSTRALIA.

PERTH, Nov 11 Asia Pulse - Energy company ChevronTexaco is pushing ahead with plans to develop the remote Gorgon gas field off the West Australian coast.
But project manager and four-sevenths owner Chevron and its co-venturers, Shell (two-sevenths) and ExxonMobile (one-seventh) have a crucial hurdle to overcome if they are to get their $A4 billion ($US2.25 billion) project off the ground.
They must secure access to WA's second biggest island, Barrow Island, a class A nature reserve known worldwide for its unique flora and fauna.
Earlier this year the WA government said it would consider Chevron's development proposal, which includes the construction of liquified natural gas (LNG) and gas-to-liquids (GTL) processing facilities on the island, subject...
