ITRI, TAIWAN INDUSTRY DEVELOP NEXT-GENERATION HD-DVD FORMAT.

TAIPEI, Nov 15 Asia Pulse - The Opto-Electronics & Systems Laboratories of the Industrial Technology Research Institute and the Advanced Optical Storage Research Alliance yesterday jointly announced a locally-developed next-generation blue laser HD-DVD format.
A spokesman of the laboratories said that the research for the proposed format is the result of a joint project of the laboratories and the alliance, which is formed by 27 local manufacturers of DVD-related products as well as content providers.
Since 1998, the laboratories have been a member of the steering committee of the DVD Forum, an international organization attended by hardware as well as software manufacturers with the aim to exchange information about DVD formats and its technical...
