SINGTEL CALLS FOR INCREASE IN FDI LIMIT IN INDIAN TELECOM SECTOR

NEW DELHI - SingTel, a foreign partner in the Bharti Group, yesterday called for a relaxation in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) rules in the telecommunications sector by raising the limit to 74 per cent or more from the existing 49 per cent.

"We would welcome it if the conditions are relaxed," Lee Hsien Yang, president and CEO of SingTel, who was here to attend the Bharti Group's board meeting.
