QANTAS CAVES IN ON START OF CREDIT CARD SURCHARGES: VISA INT'L.

SYDNEY, March 6 Asia Pulse - Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) had caved into pressure by deferring the date it would introduce surcharging on credit cards because of the hostile consumer reaction, Visa International said today .
Qantas recently announced it would surcharge customers who used a credit card but has deferred doing so now until July 1.
Recent reforms to the credit card system by the Reserve Bank of Australia have allowed merchants to surcharge customers who present credit cards for payment, if they wish.
Qantas caused an uproar recently when it became the first major company to say it would surcharge.
