VODAFONE AUSTRALIA MD REMAINS CONFIDENT ABOUT PROFIT FORECAST.

MELBOURNE, May 28 Asia Pulse - Vodafone Australia managing director Grahame Maher remained tightlipped about the extent of the mobile phone company's profitability today but said it was sustainable for the year ahead.
Mr Maher told The Trans-Tasman Business Circle that Vodafone's Australian operations were now profitable, but he could not disclose the numbers because it was a matter for the United Kingdom parent, Vodafone Group Plc.
Vodafone Australia yesterday reported a 14 per cent increase in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to A$431 million (US$282 million) for the year to March 31, 2003.
