MOBILE REVIEW DRIVEN BY UNPROFITABLE FIRMS: VODAFONE AUSTRALIA.

MELBOURNE, May 16 Asia Pulse - A pricing and regulatory review of Australia's mobile telco industry was being driven by small, unprofitable companies looking for assistance, Vodafone Australia managing director Grahame Maher said today.

Mr Maher said while Vodafone had made submissions to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) review, he was unsure what the focus of the investigation would be.

"We're not the drivers here," he told reporters today.

"I'm not sure the ACCC review will resolve any of the particular problems which might exist in the industry."

The ACCC launched its review late last month, focusing on wholesale termination and origination practices within the mobile telco industry.
