WB FINANCES VIETNAM'S ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT.

HANOI, May 29 Asia Pulse - The World Bank Global Environment Fund (GEF) will provide US$5.5 million in aid to the Vietnamese electricity sector's Demand Side Management and Energy Efficiency Project, according to a press release issued by the World Bank (WB) office in Hanoi.

The project costing less than one-tenth of the investment required to build a new power plant, will help achieve a reduction of over 120 MW in the country over three years, by installing 5,600 time-of-use meters in about 4,000 large- and medium-sized customer premises and piloting a direct load control programmes to curtail demand in about 2,000 customer end-user loads on a voluntary basis.
