US WHEAT FARMERS CRITICIZES AUSTRALIA'S AWB OVER IRAQ DEALINGS.

CANBERRA, June 6 Asia Pulse - American wheat producers have struck out at Australia's wheat exporter, saying they propped up the regime of Saddam Hussein by receiving inflated prices.

US Wheat Associates, the peak grower representative organisation in America, has complained to Secretary of State Colin Powell about AWB Ltd (ASX:AWB) and its price margins in the Iraq market before the recent war.

The prices Australia is paid for its wheat sales to Iraq have not fallen since the coalition invasion.

The US group has demanded prices for any new sales be renegotiated at what it calls current market prices rather than inflated pre-war prices.

But AWB immediately rejected the claims, describing them as ludicrous, a sign of desperation by US...
