VODAFONE AUSTRALIA TO CLOSE SYDNEY CALL CENTRE.

SYDNEY, July 29 Asia Pulse - Vodafone Australia today said it would close its Sydney call centre, affecting around 140 staff.

Vodafone said the move was part of an ongoing plan to create greater efficiencies within the business, as the company moved towards a centralised call centre operation in Tasmania.

The telco said the 140 employees at the site in Strathfield in Sydney's inner west, would be either redeployed to other parts of the business or outsourced.

If neither option were available, affected roles will be made redundant, Vodafone said.

"This has not been an easy decision, but we have given our people at Strathfield as much notice as possible and communicated with them openly and honestly about our long term business plans,"...
