AUSTRALIA'S APN NEWS & MEDIA SET TO BOOK SOLID GROWTH THIS YR.

SYDNEY, Aug 12 Asia Pulse - Regional media group APN News & Media Ltd (ASX:APN) is on track to enjoy double-digit profit growth this year and is set to raise about A$100 million (US$66 million) in a share issue to help reduce its debt pile.
The news came as APN unveiled a 24 per cent rise in net profit to $44.7 million for the six months to June 30, 2003.
Chief executive Brendan Hopkins said APN had made an encouraging start to the second half of the year and was confident the $44.7 million interim result would be exceeded in the second six months of the year.
"The major trading divisions continue to trade in line with or above expectation," he said.
