INDIA'S BPCL SEEKS 1.5 TO 2 MILLION TONNES OF IRAQI CRUDE OIL.

NEW DELHI, Aug 4 Asia Pulse - Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) (BSE:BPCL) on Friday said it is seeking 1.5 to 2 million tonnes of Iraqi crude oil to make up for a shortfall in domestic supply.

"We would like to have 1.5-2 million tonnes of Iraqi Basrah Light crude oil," BPCL chairman and managing director S Behuria said here.

India's largest refiner Indian Oil Corp (IOC)(BSE:IOC) is likely to visit Baghdad later this month to negotiate import of at least 3 million tonnes of crude annually.

IOC has been designated to negotiate for state-run oil firms, he said adding import of Iraqi oil depends on the war-ravaged country producing the pre-war quantities which may happen by the year end.
