INDONESIA'S BP MIGAS AGREES TO GOVT GAS PRICE REDUCTION PLAN.

AsiaPulse News, August, 2003

JAKARTA, Aug 28 Asia Pulse - Indonesia's oil and gas policy agency BP Migas will agree to a government plan to lower the gas price in the domestic market as long as the reduction does not discourage gas exploration, a spokesman said.

"There will be no problem. The plan to lower the gas price to US$1.50 per mmbtu is okay as long as it will not harm the interest of investors in the industry. It should also not disturb the investment climate in the gas sector," Kardaya Karnika, the BP Migas deputy chief, said yesterday.

The decision to cut the gas price in the domestic market should also be implemented through the existing mechanism, he added.

The government should also consider the impact of the price cut on investment in gas explorations.
