OPTUS TO EXPAND HIGH SPEED INTERNET OFFERING ACROSS AUSTRALIA.

SYDNEY, Nov 11 Asia Pulse - Optus will substantially broaden the footprint of its high speed internet offering to residential customers after striking an agreement to rent infrastructure from Telstra Corp Ltd (ASX:TLS).

Optus will use the Telstra Wholesale Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) network to access the so-called last mile of copper between Telstra exchanges and customer premises.

The new services will be fed into the Optus network and overlayed with its systems, the company said.

Optus Consumer and Multimedia managing director Martin Dalgleish said the long-term agreement gave it the ability to offer residential DSL to homes not serviced by its broadband cable network.
