AUDI AG KEEN TO BOOST SALES IN AUSTRALIA.

ADELAIDE, Nov 25 Asia Pulse - German car producer Audi AG has identified Australia as a key growth market with plans to double sales by the end of the decade.

The company today also announced that it had signed an agreement to take full control of Audi Australia Ltd from January 1, next year.

Since 2001 Audi Australia has operated as a joint venture with Audi AG owning 50 per cent and the Singapore-based company Cycle and Carriage the other 50 per cent.

Audi AG's head of overseas operations, Matthias Seidl, said the move by the parent company emphasised the significance of the Australian market.

"This action is a clear signal to our customers and our dealer network of our long-term and direct commitment," he said.
