KEY PHILIPPINE SECURITY ADVISER RESIGNS, SEEKS CONGRESS SEAT.

MANILA, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - National Security Adviser Roilo Golez said Thursday he is resigning from his post to seek a congressional seat in Paranaque City in the coming May 2004 synchronized national elections.
Golez said his resignation that will take effect Monday coincides with the filing of his certificate of candidacy for the second congressional district of Paranaque, a post he previously held for three terms or nine years.
"I leave the post of National Security Adviser with a heavy heart because of the warm and close relationship with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo," he said.
Golez said he had breakfast with the President on New Year's Eve and discussed with her his plans of returning to the House of Representatives.
