JAPAN'S KDDI LAYS BASIS FOR TELECOMS NETWORK IN INDIA.

TOKYO, Jan 19 Asia Pulse - Japan's KDDI Corp. (TSE:9433) has begun preparing groundwork in India for later this year, when restrictions are loosened on foreign ownership of businesses in the telecommunications field.

As a first step, KDDI has formed an agency agreement with Indo-Fuji Information Technology Pvt. Ltd., a systems developer in Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India.

Starting later this month, the two will work together to offer to build intracompany communications networks for the 300 or so Japanese firms operating in India.

Indo-Fuji will act as a KDDI agent and sell line contracts to the Japanese businesses.
