AUSTRALIA'S ZINIFEX TO EXPAND CENTURY MINE.

MELBOURNE, July 16 Asia Pulse - Integrated zinc and lead producer Zinifex Ltd (ASX:ZFX) today announced plans to expand its Century mine project in Queensland after reaching an agreement with Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX:RIO) to acquire between 200 and 250 square km of exploration ground adjacent to the mine site.
Zinifex chief executive Greig Gailey said the acquisition was a key component of the company's strategy for extending its resource base.
A Zinifex spokesman declined to comment on whether the deal involved cash or royalties saying the terms were confidential.
"All I can say is that there's not a large outlay involved but the important thing is it gives us access to land around the mine," he said.
