MELBOURNE, July 20 Asia Pulse - Australia's newest discount airline, Jetstar, has begun trading at a profit after just two months of operation.
Jetstar's Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce forecasts the company will record a small profit for the month of July.
"The expectation is that in July we will make a profit," Mr Joyce said today.
Currently, the company was operating at 76 per cent capacity with ticket sales strong.
"We've been operating in (seat) factors in the 70s and we are very happy with the performance," he said.
"We will this Thursday celebrate carrying 500,000 passengers.
"So it's great news, it shows how the Australian public is getting behind Jetstar."
