QANTAS EXPECTED TO POST RECORD ANNUAL NET PROFIT.

SYDNEY, Aug 16 Asia Pulse - Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) is expected to post a record annual net profit, helped by improved sentiment in the airline market as passenger fears over the Iraq war, terrorism and SARs continued to fade.
Despite recent soaring oil prices, the average forecast for the airline's net profit for 2003/04 centre on $A657.73 million ($US469.45 million), up 48 per cent on the previous corresponding year, and struck on sales of more than $A11 billion ($US7.85 billion), a survey of six analyst forecasts shows.
The forecast range for the profit, which will be reported on Thursday, was $A649 million ($US463.22 million) to $A692 million ($US493.92 million).
Qantas' previous annual profit record was $A517.3 million ($US369.22 million)...
