KT'S DOMINANCE OF KOREAN FIXED-LINE PHONE MARKET THREATENED BY RIVALS.

SEOUL, Oct 11 Asia Pulse - KT Corp. (KSE:030200), South Korea's biggest fixed-line telephone service operator, has been losing customers to once-hapless rivals in the market as their competitiveness continues to improve, industry source said Monday.
With mobile phones gaining in dominance and the government regulating the traditional telephone market in favor of smaller players, KT's revenue from the fixed-line voice market seems likely to continue to fall.
Although KT, the former public telephone monopoly, still held 94.7 per cent of the local telephone market at the end of August, the number compares unfavorably with 98.3 per cent of December 2000 before the company was privatized.
