SPANSION PLANS TO PRODUCE 8-GB NOR FLASH MEMORY CHIP BY 2007.

SEOUL, Nov 10 Asia Pulse - Spansion LLC., the world's third-largest manufacturer of flash memory chips by revenue, plans to unveil an 8-gigabyte NOR flash memory card by 2007, its South Korean affiliate said Wednesday.

Built with 65-nano technology, the high-capacity flash memory should benefit memory-intensive devices such as high-end mobile phones and portable data storage drives, Spansion said in a statement. One nanometer is equal to one billionth of a meter.

Ahead of this, Spansion, a joint venture between Advanced Micro Devices Inc. of the United States and Fujitsu Ltd. of Japan, said it will introduce an 1-gigabyte NOR flash memory card manufactured with 90-nano technology.
