SAMSUNG BEGINS SELLING MP3 PLAYER WITH HARD DISK.

SEOUL, Nov 29 Asia Pulse - Samsung Electronics Co. (KSE:05930) said Monday it is selling a new MP3 player with a hard disk drive in the South Korean market to compete with US Apple Computer Inc.'s popular iPod digital music player here.

The Yepp YH-920 model is Samsung's first hard drive-equipped MP3 player in South Korea, where flash-memory-equipped models have dominated.

The trend, however, is beginning to change, as Apple launched its popular iPod music player in the country. Flash-memory-type music players store significantly fewer songs compared to hard disk models.

The new device, which has a 20-gigabyte storage capacity, can save more than 5,000 songs, Samsung said in a statement.
