Measures fail to jolt bourse into life. (Stock Market Watch).

THE bourse has yet to show signs of recovery nearly one month after a raft of new measures were launched to round up new trade.

Recent efforts by authorities through seminars and technical changes still have yet to bring the bourse out of its sluggish mood.

A contributing factor has been the poor performance of some of the listed firms. The first-quarter results of the refrigeration and engineering corporation REE fell far below expectations. Its gross profit of VND4 billion was just one-third of its performance in the same period in 2002. Confectionery Company Bibica finally announced last year's loss of VND5.4 billion, after several delays in providing financial reports as required. The Bibica saga has turned off some investors.
