Slight wobble amid bourse recovery

THE VN Index closed last week at 161.84, down 1.76 points from the previous week, after three successive weeks of gains.

For the majority of this year the bourse has been on a downward slide. The government has been striving to stimulate the ailing index, which has risen for the first time in many months in recent weeks.

Last week, five of the 22 listed firms strengthened, with the confectionary maker BBC taking the lead, rising 2 per cent and pushing its price beyond its book value to VND 10,200.

The Seafood processor TS4 followed, rising by 1.81 per cent to close at VND16,900.

Catfish firm Agifish ranked third for the week, enhancing its value by 1.75 per cent to finish at VND29,000.
