Yahoo's upgrade rattles local ISPs

Domestic ISPs are scrambling to upgrade their services after Yahoo.com last week raised its email storage capacity to 100 megabytes (MB).

Yahoo increased its storage capacity from 4 MB to 100 MB on June 15, and total message size can now be as large as 10 MB. Yahoo also introduced a new streamlined interface intended to make its website more user-friendly.

Yahoo is the most popular form of free email in Vietnam, with users including students, officials and employees.

Free internet accounts are often the only available email method, with just 3 per cent of Vietnamese companies building their own websites and offering employees company email.
