DESPITE THE DOWNTURN in the telecommunications industry Nokia -- the world's largest mobile phone maker -- is recruiting research and development engineers to maintain its dominance of the mobile phone market.
Unlike many other telecommunications firms, the Finnish group has been recruiting steadily over the past few months, and is now looking for over 60 software and telecommunications engineers, said Jennifer Rawsthorn, Nokia's UK human resources manager.
'Where most companies have totally stopped recruiting, we have continued to invest in future technologies. We need. the engineering skills to maintain Nokia's position in the market.'
