News International is set to revolutionise production of its titles with an investment of over #600m over the next four years on three new printing plants.

The project includes the purchase of 22 Colorman XXL newspaper presses from MAN Roland in a deal worth several hundred million euros.

The new 24-page series will be the first to be equipped with six-plate wide nine-cylinder satellite printing units.

Each press will consist of five printing towers equipped with eight printing couples per tower. The presses can run 120 pages of full colour with an output of 86,000 copies per hour. They also feature automatic reel handling.
