In May 2000, Des Moines International Airport Marketing Director Michael Audino flew to Houston to convince Continental Airlines Inc. to begin service here.
During the solo 30-minute presentation, Audino detailed the size of Des Moines' market and demand for more air service to and from Des Moines. To sweeten the bid, he gave the four airline executives at the meeting a list of economic development projects as evidence of Des Moines' financial health.
