Clear Channel Communications Inc. is an industry leader in each of its reportable business segments: radio broadcasting, outdoor advertising and live entertainment.
As of Dec. 31, 2003, the company owned 1,182 U.S. radio stations, including five in the Des Moines market. In addition, it owned a national radio network that syndicated the programs of such well-known broadcasters as Rush Limbaugh, Bob and Tom, Jim Rome and Casey Kasem and operated several regional news and agricultural networks. In 2003, this segment generated revenues of $3.70 billion and operating income of $1.41 billion.
