Corrugated Solutions has a different way to pack boxes

Marybeth and Bill Gardam's business is based on the fact that Americans have more cardboard boxes than we "know what to do with. Plus, we ship lots of breakable objects to each other.

Corrugated Solutions, started by the husband-and-wile team last April, markets a packing material called Corru-Fill. It consists of narrow strips of corrugated cardboard that serve as an alternative to foam packing peanuts, plastic bubble wrap and plastic air bags.

Individuals can buy Corru-Fill in a 2-pound bag for about $4, a 4-pound box for $7 or a 30-pound box for $29. So far, it's available at just three outlets: New City Market Natural Groceries, 4721 University Ave., and The Packaging Store, 3200 Ingersoll Ave., in Des Moines, and True Value Hardware at 63rd Street and...
