With Lazarus and Kmart stores adding to a litany of closures in the Lafayette Square area, there appears to be little for local leaders to cheer about.

But a group of city officials and volunteers headed by the Lafayette Square Area Business Alliance is not about to give up on the area on the city's west side just because two major retailers have announced plans to leave.
