Internet stocks top the list of best big-cap performers

With only five days left to go, it's been a great comeback year for stocks. But the list of stocks that moved the most on a percentage basis over the first 11 months is surprising.

The No. 1 mover of all stocks at 186 percent, according to Factset, was Amazon.com Inc., with a market value of more than $5 billion.

The second-best percentage gainer also was Internet-related: Yahoo! Inc. at 169 percent The third-best percentage gainer was Best Buy Co. Inc., up 158 percent, which sells items to get consumers on the Internet.

The fourth-place gainer was a biotech stock, Genentech Inc., up 154 percent. The fifth-place stock was Veritas Software Inc., the Internet security software company that was up 143 percent.
