A once and future city attorney: Jorge Fernandez back in Miami.

byIt will be the second time around for Jorge L. Fernandez when he is sworn in as Miami's new city attorney at a special session of the City Commission on Sept. 7.
Fernandez, 55, who has been the Sarasota County attorney for 13 years, will succeed Alejandro Vilarello, who joined the law firm Akerman Senterfitt in June.
Fernandez previously served as Miami city attorney from 1988 to 1991. But he hastens to separate his new position from his stint as the city's top lawyer in that earlier time marked by political scandal and corruption.
